Hey it's hot out there. The good news is that you don't have to stop enjoying your bicycle! Take just a few moments to prepare and you'll be out there enjoying the summer breeze.
Stay Lit - You're going to need to get out a little earlier or stay out a little later to avoid the worst of the heat. Dawn and dust can be a dangerous time for bicycles, so make sure you're well lit! We have a great selection of bike lights in stock with a range of price points.
Plan Ahead - Now's a good time to find a few shady spots to ride and to stay well within your limits. The heat and humidity makes everything harder and now is not a good time to get stranded. If you need some ideas about where to ride come talk to us, we're here to help!
Protect Y'self - The sun is not only hot, it's full of those dangerous UV rays. Don't forget the sunscreen on your nose, wear light colored SPF clothing and of course your favorite goodr sunglasses.
Hydrate - We cannot emphasize this enough, make sure you are drinking! You want to be taking in two to three big gulps every 15 minutes you're in the saddle. Remember that you're not just sweating out water, you're loosing electrolytes as well. We recommend Skratch products and welcome you to ask us all the questions.
Recover - Accept that it's already the dog days of summer and that your weekly milage is going to be a little lower than what you'd like. It's OKAY. Now is a great time to work on general strength training, in the comfort of your own air conditioned living room.
