Have you seen the weather for this weekend? It's basically a spring preview out there, and not surprisingly, we couldn't be more excited! If there was any question whether you should schedule time to get outside take a moment to consider this.
Spending just 20 minutes outside makes you happier!
You don't even have to workout to experience the benefits of lower stress, blood pressure and heart rate associated with enjoying the outdoors. The medical community is even getting involved, some doctors are writing "nature prescriptions", advising patients to spend an hour each week outside. In Japan experts recommend people spend time walking outdoors. They even have a cute name for it, "forest bathing", or shinrin-yoku. This practice has been linked to lowering levels of the stress hormone cortisol.
Nature makes people feel more calm, something we could all use in our busy day-to-day lives! We're lucky to have a few local trails that are convenient and fun to explore. Click here to check out our favorites!
